In this article, we will review how to create Lists to use in Efforts. Lists are active groups of data that you use to canvass in your Efforts. By active, we mean that the data is dynamic and updates in realtime while you canvass.
Lists automatically exclude people in future Efforts who were contacted or marked with a Disposition that is categorized as a "Do Not Revisit" in a previous Effort.
There are many ways to use Lists including Master Lists with Sublists, excluding and including as many Import sources as you’d like, and our advanced Filtering tools.
Create a New List
To create a new List go to the List Tab, select the List icon and then select the plus sign to add a new List.
This is the List window where you can select which sources you would like to include and exclude, adjust Filters for Lists, and assign permission levels for List access.
To get started, name your List and select whether it is a Master List or Sub List. A Sublist must always have another List as it’s source and it is directly related to the Master List. Any changes made to the Master List affect the Sublists and vice versa. As you can see below, I’m creating a sublist from the Persuasion List above.
Next select an Import or a List as a source. If you select a List as a source, then the new List will be affected when the source List changes. If you select an Import as a source, that data will only be affected by canvassing done with the List.
You may also exclude sources. This is useful if you’re doing a daily Import of people contacted in another database that you’d like to exclude from your canvassed List.
On the Filters tab, you can adjust the parameters of your List. The Filters are determined by fields included in your original data upload. The left two boxes are for inclusion Filtering and the right two boxes are for exclusion Filtering.
First select add Filter. Then adjust the Filter to match who you’re trying to target. All Filters are made up of a Basic Field, the Operator, and the Specific Field Value. Use = for a single value, and use IN when you want to make a list of values. The list should be surrounded by parentheses and have commas between values, i.e. (Oakland,San Francisco,Alameda).
