You can send email through Mailchimp rather than using Organizer's built-in email function. Your Mailchimp account will be managed by your organization separately from your Organizer account.
The two-way integration of Organizer and Mailchimp will allow you to export Organizer Communities to Mailchimp for your email campaigns, and to receive certain data back into Organizer. When using this integration, email analytics and campaign performance will only be viewable in your Mailchimp account.
Although Mailchimp is a versatile tool, integrating it with Organizer and using Mailchimp exclusively to send email means that some of Organizer's features will not be available to you:
- Organizer will not create new profiles upon import of Mailchimp data that does not match Organizer data
- Mailchimp Interest data will not sync or be imported as custom attributes in Organizer
- Exports to Mailchimp can only be done via the Export tool, not from email and not via Community Builder
- Organizer attributes that you can export to Mailchimp are limited to name, email address, and a unique identifier
- In Email List View, Single Profile View and Community Builder, Organizer will not show metrics such as Opens, Clicks, Complaints, and their associated metadata, such as click URL
- In Email List View, Single Profile View, and Community Builder, Organizer will not show Sends or Bounces; it will show only Unsubscribes
- While Mailchimp allows the same effort name to be used more than once, Organizer does not, so efforts with duplicate names will be numbered incrementally in Organizer; for example, if the effort name “Effort” is used three times in Mailchimp, in Organizer it would be enumerated as Effort, Effort 2, Effort 3, and so on
If you can accept these limitations, here is how to link your Organizer account to your Mailchimp account:
- Go to Account Management > Integrations and click Add Integration.
Enter a unique Connection Name and the Mailchimp API key. If you do not know your Mailchimp API key, ask your organization’s Mailchimp administrator.
