You can add profile fields to your Script. This will give volunteers the chance to view and update any profile information that may be missing or incorrect, so that you and your Organization have the most up-to-date information available.

- Gender
- Presence of Children
- Marital Status
- Military Status
To add a Profile Field to your Script, follow these steps:
- At the right-hand side of the Script, select the profile question you want to create.
- You must add a question or suggested text above where the profile field will be displayed.
- Fields will populate if the information already exists. If not, it will appear blank for the canvassers.
Within a Script, you have multiple options for standard question types:
- Single-Select
- Multiple-Select
- Text Input
- Numeric Input
- Date/Time
- Message
To add a question to your Script, follow these steps:
- On the right-hand side of the Script, select the type of question you want to create.
- You can click and drag the type over to the script or you can select Add and it will add the content to the bottom of the script.
Question Branching
You also have the option to add conditional logic to each question. Learn more in Manage Logic Branching.
Single Select
You can create a question with multiple options, but the canvasser will only be able to choose one. This is also the only question type for which you can choose a different branching for each response.
Multi-Select
Multi-select questions have many options for responses, and the canvasser can choose as many as they’d like. You can add more choices by clicking Add Option under the currently available answers. Similarly, delete choices by clicking the delete icon.
It is best practice to add a Message to the end of your Script so Canvassers know when the Script is complete. Make sure all of the question paths map to the last Message.
Open Text
Open Text is used for collecting free/open ended feedback. For example, a question could be "What other issues besides the ones I listed in the previous question are important to you?" You can provide example text in the Open Text field to help the Canvasser understand what kind of answer to submit.
Numeric Field
Numeric Field is also an open text field, but Canvassers can only enter numbers. This field is best used for collecting numeric data like donations or payment amounts.
Date/Time Field
Date/Time lets you select a specific date and time from a calendar drop-down in your script.
Message
Message questions display a block of text that is available to the Canvasser. The open text field is where you should include the Message to be displayed to the Canvasser. This is typically used for intros and to provide talking points for your Canvassers.
Custom Attributes
You can add any custom attribute created in your Organization to a script. You will see all Custom Attributes nested under their Category that was created/selected when the custom attribute was created. If there was no category, then it can be found under Uncategorized.
You will NOT be able to make any changes to the response. If you need to edit or change your custom attribute, you must do that under Custom Attributes Manager from the main navigation. Currently, there is a limit of 10 Custom Attributes that can be added to a script. Additionally, you will only be able to use Branching Logic from the Responses for Single Select Type Custom Attributes.
Out of Date
If you see an “Out of date” tag on your script, it means one or more changes have been made likely from a custom attribute update or archive that may have affected your script. You should edit the script and review changes and update if needed and then republish.
