External IDs are fields that you can add to the profiles in your Organizer Universe. They allow you to store additional data elements for which there is no pre-built field. External ID is a field intended to hold unique identifiers for an individual in another platform. This way as you upload information to and from Organizer, you can maintain the same unique identifiers.
During the import process, you can create External IDs for columns of your data.
To create an External ID during Import, follow these steps:
- During the mapping step of importing a file, click Create External ID from under Create New in the Destination dropdown.
- Enter a name for your External ID.
- Enter a description of the External ID. This isn’t required but is recommended.
- Continue with your mapping for the other columns in your import.
- When the import is complete, you will be able to view the newly created External ID from individual profiles under Contact, and you can filter in Community Builder under Contact > External ID.
