Required Profile Questions ensure important information is collected consistently from a script- while still allowing volunteers to submit accurate data.
What Are Required Profile Questions?
Required Profile Questions are Profile Questions that must be completed before a submission can be saved, depending on how the script is used.
Which Profile Questions Are Required?
Always Required
- First/Last Name
When First/Last Name is added to a script, it is automatically required and cannot be optional.
Could be Required
You may choose whether these Profile Questions when added, are required:
- Address
- Email Address
- Mobile Number
- Landline Number
Once one of these Profile Questions is added to the Script, selecting the Required button will make the field required. Required Profile Questions are indicated with the word “Required” in red. If the button is gray and text “Required” is black text, then the field is optional. When you preview your script, required questions are indicated with a red asterisk. When a Required Question is added to a logic branch, it will only be required if the question is reached.
How Required Profile Questions Work by Channel
Internal Submissions and SPV Submissions
- Required Profile Questions must be filled out before submission. This is a hard requirement. Required Profile Questions are indicated with a red asterisk.
- Submissions cannot be saved if required Profile Questions are missing. An error message will indicate that missing questions must be filled in.
Phone Banking & Canvassing
- Required Profile Questions are clearly labeled.
- Volunteers can select:
- For Phone Banking at the end of the Script Volunteers can select “Unable to get input for required fields”
- For Canvassing under each required profile question a Volunteer can select “Did not provide answer”
- This allows submission of other collected data without forcing incorrect entries and prevents blocking volunteers during live conversations.
What Happens to the Data?
- Submissions are always saved, even if a required field was marked as “Unable to obtain.”
- Required Profile Questions improve consistency of collecting current contact information; current contact information is stored on the profile while past data continues to be stored for the profile, updating the information will update the profile as the preferred contact data.
