Within Community Builder, you have a wide variety of Civic Information and the ability to add and group filters to find specific groups of profiles. This article describes the fields that you can add in Voting Activity. Most frequently, you may include multiple filters for voting activity in combination with information to target your audience such as model scores, demographic, or geographic information. If you are interested in early vote information, you may find it useful to read the Vote History and Early Voting Overview.

Filtering Voting Activity
You will often filter for election(s) using either the Election field to select the specific election or a combination of Election State, Election Year, and Election Type. This narrows your focus to the election(s) on which you want to focus. Once you make your selection, fields that no longer need a selection are greyed out. In the example screenshot below, selections have been made for Election State, Election Year, and Election type and the Elections field is grayed out.
Next, you may narrow using other fields depending on your interest. For example, you may be using the Ballot Status before election day for ballot case or ballot curing. If you wanted to do ballot chase for voters who requested or were issued an absentee/mail ballot but have not yet returned it, you would add Ballot Status is Requested or Sent. This will provide the voters who have requested or been sent an absentee/mail ballot, but for whom we do not yet have a record of a ballot returned. Review the Early Vote and Voting History Overview (style as link) for more recommendations for ballot chase or ballot curing.
You may also be interested in finding profiles based on voting behavior in several specific elections. After selecting the information for your first election, select the Turn Into Group Icon which is a rectangle with two squares inside.
Turn Into Group allows you to add another filter for voting activity. You’ll want to consider whether you want to use “AND” or “OR” ; if you use “AND” criteria, the profile has to fit both criteria to be included. If you use “OR” criteria, a profile has to fit either one.
In the example below, the criteria is set to require both criteria using AND; so it would filter in profiles for voters whose votes were certified in both of the elections listed. If an individual voted in only one of the elections listed, then they would not be included.
Updating Vote Filters
We retired some older filters for Vote Activity in 2025. While segments or lists that contain the older filters will continue to work for a time, you will likely want to rebuild them. In the table below, we include the retired field and the likely replacement. Should you have questions about replacements, please let us know support@organizer.com.
